The idea of managing your money might be something you’re avoiding thinking about because it seems a bit scary, but it doesn’t need to be. Here’s three ways to achieve a positive money mindset. Knowledge is power. Ask for help. Build good habits.
Firstly, knowledge is power. It’s easier to feel positive about money when you understand it better. Do some research into bank accounts and how to make good money choices. Just make sure your source is reliable. Trustworthy sources include: Verified websites like banks, charities, or money saving sites, reputable influencers who work with well-known and reliable organisations. Or your trusted adults, like your parents or carers, teachers or the people who work in banks.
Secondly, know when to ask for help from one of those trusted sources. Maybe you’ve seen a suspicious text that could be a scam – ask someone to help you report and block it. Or perhaps you’ve lost your bank card and you’re not sure what to do. Go to your bank’s website and you’ll find out how to report it lost or stolen. Getting help from reliable sources is all part of building a positive money mindset.
Lastly, build a positive mindset by ditching bad habits and forming good ones like… Tracking your spending – knowing how much comes in and goes out of your bank account can stop you overspending. Budgeting for a goal – Got your eye on something expensive? Work out how much it costs and save a little each month. Saving for a rainy day – this means setting aside some extra money just in case, like if your phone breaks. Shopping around for good deals – Before buying something, check different shops and websites to make sure you’re getting the best price.
So, there you have it – stay in the know, ask for help and build good habits. Three ways to get you feeling confident about money.
